How do I get access to the internet in my dormitory?

Contract

Only in the dormitory Bischofsholer Damm you need to conclude an extra treaty in order to get access to the internet. You will get the contract forms at the dormitory office. In all other dormitories internet is included in the rental agreement.

University Personal Account

University students have to apply for a "University Personal Internet Account" at the Leibniz Universität IT Services, students of the "Hochschule Hannover" apply for it at their own computer center.

Internet Access Form

You will get the white form at the dormitory office. Please do not forget your:

• e-mail address
  Enter the one that you got with your internet account.
• MAC address
  Enter the MAC addresses of all computers that you intend to connect to the university network.
  (How can I obtain my MAC address?)
• network cable
  Every user gets a network cable (five meters long, longer ones are not available) which has to be returned on departure. You have to sign for the receipt of the cable on the internet access form. Users who stay in dormitories with dsl/cable connections will get a modem.

Wait...

… until you get connected. After you have provided everything that was asked for (see above), the system administrator and the Leibniz Universität IT Services will be informed. They will connect you to the network as soon as possible. Usually this procedure takes two or three working days. Please note: At this point you cannot do anything to get your connection sooner.
